How We Saved a Home for 43 Children

The Comfort K. Toe Orphanage is home to 43 children. Before its rebuild, Liberia’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection had already scheduled the orphanage for closure in December 2025 due to unsafe living conditions – CARE did not know this at the time.
With major contribution and onsite assistance from our partner Homes of Hope, we rebuilt the dorms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining hall, latrines, and water system – a total investment of more than $60,000. Today, the Ministry and Orphans Concern recognize Comfort K. Toe as a model orphanage in Liberia.
